What this is

Whatif projects your existing YNAB plan forward and lets you model changes to it. It is arithmetic on numbers you supplied.

It is not advice

Whatif is not a financial adviser and gives no advice. It applies no expected returns, no inflation assumption and no recommendation — every figure it shows is a deterministic consequence of your own inputs, and every conclusion drawn from one is yours.

It cannot change your budget

The access Whatif is granted to YNAB is read-only. It cannot create, alter or delete a transaction, a category, a target or an account.

Accuracy

A projection is only as good as the plan it is built from. If your scheduled transactions are out of date or your targets do not reflect what you actually spend, the forecast will say so as clearly as it can — but it cannot be more right than its inputs.

Availability

Whatif depends on YNAB's API, which is operated by YNAB and may change or become unavailable without notice. Whatif is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YNAB.

Ending it

Cancel whenever you like. Deleting your account deletes your data, immediately and irreversibly.
